Woodchuck Limited Release Summer Cider
Written by Taylor
I know! Finally another random cider review! Tell me about it. This time it’s Woodchuck’s Limited Release Summer Cider. This will be my 3rd of 4 reviews of their limited seasonal ciders. So far I would say my favorite is the Limited Release Fall Cider.
For starters … don’t be deceived by the photo! There IS liquid in that pint glass. Looking at the bottle and then the cider that came out of it, I knew I was in for something quenching. The color of this cider is as close to totally clear as any cider I have seen. It is slightly tinted, looks a lot like white grape juice in that way. Very subtle.
Once I poured, it was also quite aromatic. I could smell the apple immediately, but compared to other Woodchuck ciders I would call the smell a lot more sweet and light. And you know what? It smelled a lot like ripe, crisp golden apples and … blueberries. That’s right, blueberries. Faintly so, but definitely there. I was pretty stoked to try the cider.
The taste of this Limited Release Summer Cider was perfect. First of all, it was light and refreshing. It didn’t have the same heaviness in body as the other Woodchuck ciders. Second, it was sweet. Tasted like sweet apples (as opposed to tart apples) and had tons of flavor, including that hint of blueberries that really made it unique. Together I felt these two tastes really made the cider a winner. This cider also was without the woody or oaky notes of some of the heavier bodied ciders. Its goal is obvious: to quench thirst on hot summer days.
I am a big fan of the Summer Cider. My favorite seasons of the year are Summer and Fall, and it’s nice to know there is an excellent Woodchuck cider to go with each. Very well done, Woodchuck.Woodchuck Limited Release Summer Cider,
