Redhook ESB

Sweet bottle and label. Custom glass with company logo on the shoulder at 12, 3, 6, and 9 O’clock. The bottle actually has two landscape oriented labels one right above the other but separated by another design molded into the glass. This one looks to be almost like stitching. Very cool.

The taste of this beer is restrained, and obviously on purpose. When smelling this beer I anticipate that it wants to go to the citrusy pale ale side of things but its stopped and what you get is a pale colored, clear beer with an intensely velvety mouthfeel but a bitter hop note at the end- a very enjoyable combination. I think the properly balance level of carbonation also influences the mouthfeel.

That being said, my favorite part of this beer is actually the mouthfeel. A velvety, almost creamy texture that transitions into a finish that dries out your mouth from the tongue to the sides of your mouth until you take another sip. I really like this beer. I’ve heard of it for a long time but never had it. Easily added to my list of go-to’s and I will be drinking more of this in the future. This week, I’m just glad I bought two of these.
