Goose Island Pepe Nero Belgian-Style Farmhouse Ale
Written by John
Pepe Nero! The name and presentation are the best parts of this beer. I was all excited by the packaging but disappointed with the results. The color was nice and black in keeping with the “mystery” of the bottle. It poured a little brown head that lasted a fair amount of time. The aroma was florals, fruity, nutty and a hard to describe smell. The taste was much like the aroma. I had to imagine hard in order to get to the pepper. I stepped away from the beer to talk on the phone before I finished the glass and came back to a rather flat, strange beer that reminded me of Dr. Pepper! Mouthfeel is thin and nothing to remember. Try this once just to say you did but that will be enough.

I have one of these in my fridge. Looking forward to giving it a try. It was recommended to me that I enjoy this beer with food so I might make a spicy dish or something peppery.
